“The Honor Gamepad is compatible with most games and users can also map keys as per their requirement”
Honor Gamepad smartphone gaming accessory has been announced at the Gamescom 2019 expo. It acts as a controller during gaming sessions and connects via Bluetooth. A 400mAh battery fuels the accessory. Honor at the event claimed that 18 percent of its users identify themselves as gamers, and for this reason, the company had introduced the accessory to cater the needs. The Honor Gamepad is compatible with most games and users can also map keys as per their requirement.
Interestingly, the Honor Gamepad can be attached to any smartphone and will draw power the from smartphone’s USB Type-C port when it runs out of battery. Sadly, this means that phones with good old microUSB port don’t help when the accessory runs of juice. The Honor Gamepad packs 4 D-pad buttons, a joystick, shoulder button, and one extra button. Given the rise of smartphone gaming in recent times, it’s no surprise Honor wants to bank on it. Unfortunately, though, the pricing and availability details aren’t revealed yet, but we should learn more information soon.
Separately, Honor recently announced the Vision Pro smart TV with the company’s own Harmony OS. The smart TV is available in a standard and Pro variants, with the latter packing a pop-up selfie camera. The Honor Vision TV rocks an all-metal build with super slim bezels offering a 94 percent screen-to-body ratio. Both the models are powered by the 28nm Hongchu 818 chipset coupled with 2GB RAM and up to 32GB of onboard storage. It supports 4K playback at 60fps, H.265 1080p playback, HDR, noise reduction, and 64MP image decoding.
