“The Honor V20 seems set to have a beastly camera, with a 48MP primary rear sensor, a 25MP in-display front camera, and even 960fps slow-mo videos.”
Honor is all set to launch its flagship smartphone, the Honor V20, on December 26th. The internet, naturally, is awash with teasers, leaked documents and listings on benchmark browsers, giving us a rather detailed glimpse at how exactly the device is shaping up to be, prior to its launch. Now, a bunch of teasers shared by Honor’s official Weibo handle have revealed that among the prime features of a very impressive imaging setup will be an extreme slow motion mode, which records at 960fps.
While the 960fps slow motion feature is not new per se, it has not been pulled off with perfection yet. Sony was the first company to roll out a mobile imaging sensor capable of such heavy rendering, and since then, many smartphones have included this feature, including the Huawei P20 Pro, Mate 10 Pro, Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro from Huawei/Honor’s stable. Alongside this, other features of the Honor V20 that have been teased officially include a 4,000mAh battery, 25-megapixel in-display front camera, ‘AI’ dual-frequency GPS, and a featured dubbed ‘Link Turbo’, which will automatically switch between 4G and Wi-Fi, or combine both to provide the best possible connection. Link Turbo, in hindsight, sounds a bit like Apple’s Wi-Fi Assist, although it remains to be seen how the feature is implemented.
Further reports citing a Geekbench listing of a Huawei smartphone, codenamed ‘PCT-AL10’, have affirmed that the Honor V20 will indeed be powered by the Chinese giant’s in-house flagship chipset, the HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC. This will reportedly be paired with 8GB of RAM, although previous listings had suggested 6GB of RAM on the Honor V20. It is highly probable that the Honor V20 will feature two memory variants, along with 64GB and 128GB storage variants. The V20 is also slated to house a 6.4-inch IPS LCD display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and high screen to body ratio.
This effectively gives you a near-complete look at the upcoming Honor V20. A previous rumour from the distribution chain had also suggested that the Honor V20 will be priced at 2,799 RMB and 3,299 RMB, or (approx.) Rs 28,400 and Rs 33,500 respectively. It will be interesting to see how much of the speculations have we gotten right, and if Honor has some additional surprises up its sleeve.
