“The Honor V30 will support the next-gen cellular connectivity for high-speed internet”
Honor V30, the upcoming flagship from the brand, will have more than just flagship-grade specifications. Huawei sub-brand Honor’s President Zhao Ming has confirmed on Weibo that the Honor V30 will come with 5G support. It’ll be the company’s first smartphone to offer next-gen cellular connectivity, which is known for its unprecedented download speed. Zhao also said that similar to other flagship smartphones, the V30 will feature a full 5G SA (standalone) and NSA (non-standalone) network. This means that the handset will support both 4G infrastructure, as well as the new infrastructure that is being set up for the next-generation mobile technology, to transmit 5G signals. No further details of the Honor V30 have been shared yet.
The Honor V30 will be the successor to Honor V20 aka Honor View20 series that was launched in December last year. Therefore, we may expect the 5G Honor V30 smartphone to have a similar launch cycle. The Honor V30 specifications remain unknown at the moment, but speculations are rife that it could be powered by Huawei’s upcoming flagship SoC Kirin 990.
Huawei, meanwhile, has already started selling its first 5G smartphone, called Mate 20 X 5G, in its home country China. The handset comes at a starting price of RMB 6,199 (~roughly Rs 62,500) and packs 8GB of RAM and 256GB onboard storage. The Mate 20 X also features a massive 7.2-inch OLED display with a waterdrop notch, full-HD+ resolution, and an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. At the handset’s core lies Kirin 980 chipset paired with Balong 5000 5G modem for 5G connectivity on the device. It is a dual-SIM phone that supports a 5G SIM and a 4G SIM at the same time.
In the camera department, there is a 24-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture on the front camera. The rear shell of the smartphone features Leica’s 40-megapixel primary sensor + 8-megapixel telephoto lens with OIS + 20-megapixel ultrawide lens setup with LED flash. Other features include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9.1, and a beefy 5,000mAh battery with 40W fast charging support.
