HP has announced its latest Windows-powered tablet, the Pro Tablet 608 in the US. The slate will initially ship with Windows 8.1, but will get a free upgrade to Windows 10. Starting August, the brand will start selling the device with Windows 10 pre-installed. The slate comes with an optional Atmel digital pen that apart from writing lets you hover over the screen like you would while using a mouse.
The HP Pro Tablet 608 flaunts an 8-inch display bearing a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by an Intel Atom x5-8500 Cherry Trail processor, aided by up to 4GB of RAM and Intel HD graphics. The slate will be released in various internal memory variants ranging between 32GB to 128GB. It offers an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front snapper. In terms of connectivity, you get Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, a USB-C connector, a microSDXC card slot, and optional 3G and 4G variants.
The Pro Tablet 608 comes with metal-reinforced chassis, dual front-facing stereo speakers, DTS Studio Sound and noise-cancelling software. The device offers eight hours of battery life. It also has an optional keyboard cover that has an HDMI dock, Ethernet, and full-sized USB ports.
The HP Pro Tablet 608 will first go on sale in the US in July at a starting price tag of $479 (around Rs 30,400). It will come bundled with a free one year subscription of Microsoft Office 365.
