HTC U11 EYEs with dual selfie cameras to reportedly be unveiled on January 15th

Last month, the gadgettipster Evan Blass (@evleaks) had revealed that HTC wasworking ona device with the codename ‘Ocean Harmony’, which wouldbe launched as theHTC U11 EYEs. Today Blass has revealed the key specifications of the handset, including the presence of dual selfie cameras and HTC Edge Sense. Blass has also mentioned that the Taiwanese brand may launch the smartphone on January 15th.

Along with the specs, the tipster also tweeted official looking renders of the device and we can see that it will feature the same glossy glass sandwich design as seen on the U11 (review). The handset will also feature an IP67 rating for protection against dust and water. The device will ship with a massive 6-inch Super LCD3 display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels (FHD+). There will be an octa-core Snapdragon 652 processor driving the performance of the handset. The processor is further backed by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The storage can further be expanded using a microSD card. There is no information regarding the cameras as of now, except that there is a dual camera module up front and a single lens on the rear panel.


On the software front, the handset will run Android Nougat out of the box, with HTCs Sense UI running on top. We can expect the smartphone toreceive the Android Oreo update sometime later this year. The HTC U11 EYEs will also come with the Edge Sense feature, which lets users perform various actions by squeezing the lower part of phone from both sides. Users can configureEdge Sense to perform tasks like openingthe camera, capturing a screenshot, launching Google Assistant and toggling the flashlight, among others. A USB Type-C port and a 3,930mAh battery completes the spec sheet.

The upcoming smartphone will be launched in three hues Black, Silver and Red.According to Blass, the device will be priced at RMB 3,299 (~Rs 32,400).
