HTC U20 5G and Desire 20 Pro mid-range phones have been unveiled in Taiwan as the company tries to make a comeback in the smartphone segment after a brief gap. The HTC U20 is notably the company’s first 5G smartphone thanks to the Snapdragon 765G SoC. The HTC Desire 20 Pro is a more affordable phone that is powered by the dated Snapdragon 665 SoC. Both the phones are equipped with a punch-hole design on the front, quad cameras on the back and a physical fingerprint sensor.
HTC U20 5G and Desire 20 Pro price
The HTC U20 5G price is set at NT$ 18,990 (around Rs 48,800) and comes in Dark Green and Crystal White colours. It will be up for purchase in Taiwan from July 1st. The HTC Desire 20 Pro is priced NT$ 8,990 (approx Rs 23,100) and will be on sale in Taiwan from June 18th. HTC hasn’t revealed details regarding global availability.
HTC U20 5G specifications
The HTC U20 5G packs a 6.8-inch full HD+ display with 1,080 X 2,400 pixels resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC coupled with Adreno 620 GPU, 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB UFS 2.1 storage. It runs Android 10 OS with a custom layer on top. As for the optics, the HTC U20 5G will have quad cameras at the back with a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP 118-degree ultra-wide-lens, a 2MP 2cm super macro and a 2MP depth sensor.
The HTC U20 5G has a 32MP selfie snapper on the front for selfies and a physical fingerprint sensor at the back for security. The HTC U20 5G measures 171.2 x 78.1 x 9.4 mm and weighs 215 grams. Connectivity features include 5G SA/ NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C. The phone houses a 5,000mAh battery and supports 18 fast-charging.
HTC Desire 20 Pro specifications
The HTC Desire 20 Pro comes with a slightly smaller 6.5-inch full HD+ display with 1,080 X 2,340 pixels resolution and 19:5:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 665 chipset coupled with Adreno 610 GPU, 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB storage that is expandable up to 512GB via microSD card. It runs on Android 10 OS and has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security.
Moving to the cameras, the HTC Desire 20 Pro will have quad cameras at the back with a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP 118-degree ultra-wide-lens, a 2MP 2cm super macro and a 2MP depth sensor. It will have a 32MP snapper on the front for selfies. Connectivity features include Dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C. The handset packs a 5,000mAh battery and also supports 18 fast charging.
