“The flagship smartphones from Huawei will reportedly feature a beefy battery and triple rear cameras”
The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will not see the light of the day until October 16th. But, the latest leak by an Israeli publication has revealed the smartphones in full glory. The website claims that it has managed to get hold of the actual promotional materials of the Mate 20 (codenamed as Laya) and Mate 20 Pro (codenamed as Hima), ahead of the launch.
The images suggest that both Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro could flaunt triple rear cameras. This isn’t very surprising as earlier leaks and rumours have also pointed out the same thing. While the sensor details have not been mentioned, they’re reported to feature an AI smart zoom in the leak. The feature is said to “detect a moving object” and “automatically focus” to shoot images with better quality. For selfies, there’s going to be a single 24-megapixel sensor on the front for both handsets.
For security, the Mate 20 Pro is tipped to come with a Face ID feature similar to the iPhones, thanks to the slightly wider notch than the Mate 20. The images reveal that the handset will have a 3D face unlock that will have a failure rate of 1:1000000 and unlock speed of 500ms. On top of it, the Pro variant is further reported to sport an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Mate 20, on the other hand, is expected to flaunt a Waterdrop-style notch and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Moreover, you could also be able to unlock the devices with your voice, owing to the Bone Voice ID feature.
Moving on, the Mate 20 Pro will reportedly house a massive 4,200mAh battery, while the Mate 20 will equip a slightly smaller 4,000mAh battery. Both the models are said to support Super Charge 2.0 technology, which will offer 70 percent battery backup in just 30-minutes. Besides, the Mate 20 duo could be the first smartphones to carry support for 15W wireless charging.
Coming to the specifications, both the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will be driven by 7nm Kirin 980 chipset. While the Mate 20 will have a base variant with 4GB of RAM, the Pro variant will ship with 6GB of RAM. The storage onboard is listed to be 128GB on both the smartphones, which will reportedly be expandable up to 256GB via a new nanoSD card, instead of microSD card. The devices are also tipped to come with an easy wireless projection for desktop PC experience as revealed by the promotional images.
Other specifications of the handsets are not known at the moment, but Huawei is likely to price the Mate 20 at NIS 3,000 (~ Rs 61,000) and Mate 20 Pro at NIS 4,000 (~ Rs 81,000) in Israel.
