“The Mate 20 is reported to feature glass-sandwiched design and tripe-rear camera setup”
Huawei is slated to launch the Mate 20 smartphone with the latest upcoming HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC in October 2018. However, ahead of the announcement, the successor to the Mate 10 has been leaked quite a few times. It’s reported to come with a 4,200mAh battery, a 6.28-inch AMOLED display, and Android Pie-based EMUI 9 OS pre-loaded. Now, XDA Developers has managed to lay their hands on renders of the Mate 20, which it claims are based on the photographs of the original device.
As per the renders, the Mate 20 comes with an all-display fascia that looks reminiscent to the OPPO F9 with that Waterdrop notch up top. The tiny cut-out up top is where Huawei seems to have placed the front-facing camera and speaker. The renders further show the handset’s power button and volume rocker on the right spine, while the SIM tray is placed on the left edge. The top and bottom edges of the Mate 20 will sport 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C port and speaker grill respectively.
Sadly, XDA Developers wasn’t able to procure the shots of Mate 20 from the rear, but it claims that the smartphone will feature triple cameras, much like the Huawei P20 Pro (review). Furthermore, the rear panel of the device will be layered with glass on top, most probably for wireless charging feature.
That’s all we know about the Huawei Mate 20 smartphone as of now. But we’d advise you to take the above details with a pinch of salt until it’s official.
Meanwhile, there are reports that the Chinese OEM might also announce the Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 Lite smartphones alongside. The ‘Pro’ variant is said to rock the same chipset as the standard Mate 20, while the Lite model is expected to pack the latest Kirin 710 SoC under the hood
