Huawei Mate 40E 5G with 90Hz display and Kirin 990E SoC launched: price, specs

Huawei has launched a new smartphone that fits into its Mate 40 line-up. The new phone is called the Mate 40E 5G and it offers 5G connectivity, a curved display, and fast wired and wireless charging. This is the fifth smartphone in the Mate 40 series, which includes the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+, and the Mate 40 RS Porsche Design. The Mate 40 series was launched back in August 2020. The Huawei Mate 40E 5G price and specifications have been revealed in China but the company hasn’t provided any details on international launch and availability.

Huawei Mate 40E 5G price in China

The Mate 40E price starts at CNY 4,599 (approx Rs 51,500) for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. For those who want the variant with 256GB storage, the cost of the phone goes up to CNY 5,099 (approx Rs 57,100). The phone will be available in three colour options, with sales starting on March 18th in China.

Going by the specifications, the Mate 40E 5G appears to be a slimmed-down variant of the Pro. It is equipped with the Kirin 990E chipset, which is paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The phone features a 6.5-inch FHD+ curved OLED panel that offers a 90Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The screen has a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner that houses a 13-inch selfie camera. It also gets an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The back of the phone features a circular camera module that consists of a primary 64-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto unit with 3x optical zoom, and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide unit. The smartphone also lets you capture macro shots using the ultra-wide sensor. The camera module also consists of a laser focus sensor and the LEICA branding. The Mate 40E runs Android 10 based EMUI 11 out of the box and houses a 4,200mAh battery that supports 40W wired and wireless fast charging. It also gets Wi-Fi 6, an IP53 rating, NFC, a headphone jack, air gestures, and 5G support.
