“Apart from Huawei Mate X, the Mate 30 series that is also tipped to be announced on September 19th and ship with the latest Kirin 990 SoC”
Huawei Mate X smartphone was announced earlier this year at the MWC 2019 event in Barcelona, Spain. However, the phone is yet to hit the stores as it was delayed a couple of times. The latest reports suggest the handset will go on sale from November. Now, it is claimed the Huawei Mate X final version would launch at the end of this year and will have different specifications than initially showcased. The handset is said to come with Kirin 990 chipset and pack triple rear cameras, a similar setup as the Huawei P30 series. The new optics use RYYB instead of RGB. The TENAA listing suggests the smartphone will now weigh 300 grams instead of 287 grams when it was announced.
The Kirin 990 SoC is expected to come with support for 4K video recording at 60fps, which was missing on flagships like Huawei’s P20 and P30 series. Apart from Huawei Mate X, the Mate 30 series that is tipped to be announced on September 19th will also ship with the latest Kirin 990 SoC. Though Apple’s A-series and Qualcomm’s 845 chipsets already come with 4K at 60fps support, Huawei’s Kirin flagship SoC’s lacked this feature for reasons unknown. The Kirin 990 will also power the next year’s P40-series and high-end Honor-branded phones. The Honor 990 SoC is based on 7nm processing node and will also come with Balong 5000 5G modem. It’s said to offer 10 percent performance improvement and consume 10 percent less power.
To recall, the Huawei Mate X flaunts a 6.6-inch AMOLED display on the front, a 6.38-inch screen on the back that expands to an 8-inch screen when unfolded. It packs 8GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage and boots Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.1.1. A 4,500mAh battery with SuperCharge support fuels the phone. In terms of optics, the Mate X rocks triple rear cameras with 40MP + 16MP + 8MP lens. The Mate X will also come with the Balong 5000 5G chipset.
