“The Huawei Mate Xs will succeed the original Mate X foldable smartphone, which was announced earlier this year”
The Huawei Mate Xs, the next-gen foldable phone from the brand, will launch early next year. The handset will be succeeding the original Mate X from earlier this year. Huawei, at its Mate X China launch event, has announced that it’ll take the wraps off the Mate Xs in March 2020, and it would rock the same design as its predecessor. The phone will be powered by the flagship HiSilicon Kirin 990 with 5G connectivity instead of Kirin 980 SoC, which is there on the Huawei Mate X. As per the teaser shared by Huawei, the Mate Xs seems to come with the same a flexible OLED display panel that folds outwards from the middle. The phone may have a strip running along the edge on one side that will house the cameras.
The Huawei Mate Xs is likely to offer better performance than the Mate X – owing to the latest chipset. The Kirin 990 SoC is built on the 7nm+ EUV process and packs overclocked Cortex A76 and A55 cores, paired with more powerful NPU cores. The chipset has the 5G modem integrated as opposed to the external one used in the Kirin 980.
The Mate X, meanwhile, will finally be going for sale on November 15th in China for RMB 16,999 (~Rs 1,70,614). To recall, the Mate X has triple rear cameras powered by Leica and an 8-inch display with 2,840 x 2,200 resolution when unfolded. When folded, you get a 6.6-inch display with 2,480 x 1,148-pixel resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio on the front and a 6.38-inch (2,490 x 892 pixels) screen on the rear. The handset also features a 4,500mAh backed by Huawei’s 55W SuperCharge tech and run a customised OS, which is compatible with the foldable phones.
That’s all we know so far! We expect to learn more about the Huawei Mate Xs as the launch event nears, so stay tuned to 91mobiles.
