Huawei MateBook E 2019 with Snapdragon 850 and 12-inch touch display launched

Huawei has unleashed a new device, called the MateBook E 2019 in China. The 2-in-1 notebook from the brand boasts of a fanless design, a touchscreen display with narrow borders, and always-connected feature, thanks to the built-in 4G LTE support (nano-SIM). The MateBook E 2019 looks fairly similar to Microsoft’s Surface Pro laptop (review) and is driven by Qualcomm’s high-end Snapdragon chipset, which is fabricated on Samsung’s 10nm LPP process.

The MateBook E 2019 comes with a 12-inch display with 2,160 x 1,440 pixels resolution, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and a 160-degree viewing angle. The screen also has an oleophobic coating to keep the smudges and scratches, to an extent, at bay. At its core lies Snapdragon 850 silicon, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB/ 512GB UFS storage. In terms of connectivity, the notebook packs 4G LTE with 4×4 MIMI antenna technology for a strong connection, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual-band WiFi. As per Huawei, “the device also has a special feature that prevents Bluetooth and Wi-Fi from interfering with each other.”

In terms of photography, the new MateBook rocks a 13-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter on the front. The PC is fueled by a 36.3Wh battery that is rated to provide up to 10 hours of media playback at 50 percent brightness. The battery is also backed by fast-charging that can juice it up to 88 percent in 1.5 hours. There is also dual speakers with dual SmartPA amplifier and Dolby Atmos for a “virtual and immersive surround sound experience,” and Huawei’s Share 3.0 One Touch which allows you connect your phone to laptop by touching the former to the keyboard.

Other vital features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, M Pen Lite Stylus support (to be purchased separately), and a keyboard that can double up as a kickstand. Lastly, the device measures 8.5mm in thickness (without keyboard), 278.2mm in width, and 194.22mm in length, and weighs 698 grams (1.173kg with keyboard).

As for the price, the MateBook E 2019 is available at RMB 3,999 for the 256GB storage variant, while the 512GB option retails for RMB 4,999. The notebook comes in Titanium Ash and Charm Blue Sea colour options. It’s available for sale in China on Vmall, Tmall, and Suning with free gifts bundled.
