Huawei has launched the MatePad Pro tablet in China. The company has announced the tablet to take on the likes of Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 and Apple iPad Pro in the flagship category. The Android-powered slate from Huawei comes with a slew of interesting features including an all-display fascia with a punch-hole for the selfie camera; Huawei’s top-end Kirin 990 SoC ticking at its core; and a beefy battery cell. The Huawei MatePad Pro also comes with wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, and a whopping 40W fast charging support (the slate, however, ships with 20W charger).

Huawei MatePad Pro price, availability

The Huawei MatePad Pro price in China starts at RMB 3,299 (~Rs 33,000). This is for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage WiFi-only variant. The slate’s 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option of the same variant will cost RMB 3,399 (~Rs 34,000). The MatePad Pro LTE edition, on the other hand, comes with a sticker price of RMB 3,799 (~Rs 38,000) and RMB 4,499 (~Rs 45,000) for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage options.

The MatePad Pro comes in Danxia Orange, Castle Peak, Fritillaria White, and Night Ash colour options. Huawei has also announced a few accessories with the tab, including an optional magnetic keyboard case and M-Pencil stylus, which are respectively priced at RMB 499 (~Rs 5,000) and RMB 699 (~Rs 7,000).

Coming to the specifications, the MatePad Pro ships with a 10.8-inch display with rounded corners and uniformly thick bezels on the sides. The display bears quad HD+ (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) resolution, a punch-hole for the selfie camera, and 90 percent screen-to-body ratio. The tablet is powered by 7nm Kirin 990 chipset paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB storage onboard. The MatePad Pro comes with two models: 4G LTE and WiFi only.

In the imaging department, the tablet features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/1.8 aperture, phase detection autofocus, LED flash, and more. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling. The MatePad Pro houses a 7,250mAh battery with 40W rapid charging, 15W wireless charging, and 7.5W reverse wireless charging support. Software-wise, it boots Android 10-based EMUI 10 out of the box. The software comes with a bunch of features such as multi-screen collaborative. This allows users to clone their phone’s interface on tablet’s screen to transfer files, answer phone calls and send/receive text messages.

Other features include wirelessly charging M-Pencil stylus that supports 4096-level pressure sensitivity nib, quad speakers with Histen 6.0 audio support, and connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS (only on LTE edition), and USB-C.
