“The series will be launched this week in China along with three models, and the brand might announce a tablet too”
Huawei has two flagship lineups — the Mate series and the P series — which are launched within six months of each other. However, the Chinese company also has an upper mid-range lineup that offers the top-tier specifications at a lower price point than those flagships. The Nova series of smartphones is due for an upgrade. Before the launch however, the company has teased a key feature of the Nova 5 on Weibo today. Also, a previously unknown Nova 5i Pro model was listed on JD.com a couple of days back and it adds to the three variants — Nova 5i, Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro, suggesting that we might see as many as four models in the upcoming range.

As per the teaser, the Nova 5 will be equipped with a 32MP selfie camera, which will be housed inside the waterdrop notch. Now, at this point, it’s unclear if this applies to all the models or simply the higher-end version. But we can guesstimate that the Nova 5 Pro will certainly get it. A lot about the series is already known. The Huawei Nova 5i recently appeared on TENAA which outed many specifications and the design of the handset in the process. Last week, a leak revealed press renders of Nova 5 Pro and its colour options and storage variants.
The Nova 5i will likely be the most affordable offering in the new lineup and speculation is that it will ship with the Kirin 710 SoC in its guts while the Nova 5 will boast a yet unreleased Kirin 810 chipset, which will be based on the 7nm fabrication process. As per rumours, the Nova 5 Pro will be a flagship-grade handset with the Kirin 980 chip and quad rear cameras. Considering that the Nova 5 series will be unveiled on June 21st in China, we might not have to wait for long to find out what all it brings to the table.
