Huawei had filed a design patent for a new speaker at the World Intellectual Property Organisation on 2nd February 2020 and it was published on April 9th. The patent images show the speaker has an oval design with the top portion for output vents and on the front, there are buttons for power on/off, volume up and down, Bluetooth and a circle button, presumably to change tracks. The USB port for charging and assumably a microSD card slot are present towards the left. The Huawei speaker design looks interesting to say the least.
The Huawei speaker could come with Celia voice-assistant that was included in the Huawei P40-lineup, thereby enabling smart features. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the speaker at the moment but since it is still the patent phase, there’s no way to tell if Huawei would ever launch it commercially. However, we’ll keep you posted.
Separately, Huawei Sound X speaker was unveiled recently. It ships with a total of six tweeters and dual subwoofers and produces 360-degree Hi-Res audio. The Huawei Share feature lets you transfer music wirelessly from any Huawei handset with EMUI 10.1. It is equipped with Devialet’s Push-Push Acoustic Design, leveraging on the symmetrical dual subwoofers to cancel vibrations and suppresses distortion. It has laser-carved touch-sensitive buttons for audio control and features the French audio technology company’s patented Speaker Active Matching (SAM) signal-processing.
