MWC 2017: Huawei introduces the Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic with Android Wear 2.0

At its pre-MWC event in Barcelona today, Huawei introduced its latest flagship smartphones called the P10 and P10 Plus. In addition, the company has also expanded its wearables portfolio with the launch of the Huawei Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic. The Watch 2 offers a sportier look with rubber straps, while the Watch 2 Classic features a stainless steel bezel and leather straps to offer a more premium and stylish look.

Both new Huawei smartwatches boast IP68 certifications for imperviousness to water, and come with extensive exercise tracking features. They offer real-time heart rate information, including dynamic heart rate monitoring and zone indicators. They offer 1.2-inch AMOLED displays with Gorilla Glass 3 and 390 x 390p resolution.

Huawei Watch 2 CLassic

The Huawei Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100 SoCs, mated to 768MB of RAM. Specs include 4GB of internal storage, Android Wear 2.0, built-in e-SIM (Huawei Watch 2), 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and 420mAh batteries with fast charging support.

The Huawei Watch 2 will be available starting €330 (~Rs 23,000), while the Watch 2 Classic is being offered for €399 (~Rs 28,000). The smartwatches will initially go on sale in Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Germany and China in March. In April, they will be available in other markets like India as well. There’s also a Huawei Watch 2 Porsche Design variant with a tachymeter bezel, which will be launched in the coming months.
