Huawei Watch GT 2e India launch expected soon after coronavirus lockdown ends

Huawei Watch GT 2e was globally announced back on March 26th and on Thursday, April 23rd, the company launched the smartwatch in China alongside the Nova 7, Nova 7 Pro and Nova 7 SE smartphones. The Watch GT 2e is expected to launch in India as well, and a tweet by tipster Mukul Sharma suggests Huawei will bring the smartwatch to the country soon after the coronavirus lockdown ends on May 3rd. However, an exact launch date is unknown yet. The Huawei Watch GT 2e touts specifications like the in-house Kirin A1 SoC, support for up to 15 workouts and Bluetooth 5.1.

The Huawei Watch GT 2e has a circular 1.39-inch AMOLED touch display with 454 X 454 pixels resolution. The smartwatch is powered by the Kirin A1 processor, which is the same chipset that powers the Watch GT 2 and FreeBuds 3 TWS earbuds. The SoC is coupled with 4GB storage on the Watch GT 2e. It runs on Huawei LiteOS, connects via Bluetooth 5.1 and is compatible with Android 4.4 and iOS 9.0 and above devices. The smartwatch is 5 ATM water-resistant and GPS supported. Sensors onboard include Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer sensor, Ambient light sensor, Geomagnetic sensor, Air pressure sensor, Gyroscope sensor, Capacitive sensor. 

Huawei Watch GT 2e features also include heart rate tracking, sleep monitoring, Huawei TruRelax and all-day activity tracking. The 455mAh battery is claimed to last up to 14 days on a single charge. It supports up to 100 fitness tracking modes and 15 professional workout modes, including running, walking, hiking, trail running, cycling, swimming and more. There is a SpO2 sensor to monitor oxygen levels in the blood.

Huawei Watch GT 2e price in China is set at RMB 1288 (around Rs 13,900), and it should launch in India with a similar price as well, if not cheaper. The company has already launched the Huawei Watch GT 2 in the country and is expected to bring the FreeBuds 3 truly wireless earbuds as well.
