Huawei Watch GT Active, Elegant Editions smartwatches and FreeLace wireless earphones launched

After introducing the Watch GT last year, Huawei has now announced the Active and Elegant editions of the Watch GT at an event in Paris. The Active Edition features the same 46mm watch face, sports a 1.39-inch AMOLED HD colour touchscreen display, while the Elegant edition rocks a smaller 42mm ceramic bezel option with a 1.2-inch AMOLED HD display. Separately, the brand has also introduced the FreeLace wireless earphones and a power bank with  at the event.

Huawei Watch GT Active and Elegant price

The Watch GT Active Edition is priced at €249 (about Rs 19,400) and comes in orange and dark green hues, while the Elegant Edition costs €229 (about Rs 17,800) and will be available in black and white colours. The Huawei FreeLace Bluetooth earphones are priced at €99 (about Rs 7,700), as is the Huawei 12,000mAh SuperCharge Power Bank.

The Watch GT Active Edition comes with a 46mm watch face with a 1.39-inch AMOLED HD colour touchscreen display and 454 x 454 pixels screen resolution. On the other hand, the Elegant edition sports a 1.2-inch AMOLED HD colour display with 390 x 390 pixels screen resolution. The Huawei Watch GT features dual-chipset and smart power-saving architecture that enables it to switch between performance and efficiency modes, depending on the individual’s activity to maximise battery life.

The Watch GT Active and Elegant edition pack a new Triathlon mode with three types of workout options, including open water swimming, outdoor cycling, and outdoor running. The watch can record entire triathlon, including the transition time. The Triathlon mode will be available for the Huawei Watch GT Classic and Sport Edition via an update. 

Huawei is also offering a variety of watch faces to suit the occasion. The Watch GT supports TruSeen 3.0 with continuous 24-hour heart rate monitoring tracking active and resting heart rates. It also lets users notify them to adjust the intensity of their workout based on a pre-set target heart rate interval. In rest mode, the smartwatch automatically monitors and records the resting heart rate of users. TruSleep 2.0 enables to monitor users sleep quality, accurately identify typical sleep issues and offers suggestions to improve the sleep quality and personalise sleep services by real-time heart rate monitoring, and sleep breathing.

Coming to the Huawei FreeLace wireless earphones, the wearables are made of metal wrapped in liquid silicon, which the company says feels soft and offers a comfortable fit. It packs a USB Type-C connector for charging and can also be used for quick and easy Bluetooth pairing via HUAWEI HiPair. It packs 120mAh battery and the brand claims that a five-minute charge gives up to four hours of playback time and offers up to 18 hours of playback, 13 hours of talk time and 12 days of standby time on a single charge. Thanks to a 28nm Bluetooth chipset, the earphones consume 60 percent less power.

The earphones feature a 9.2mm dynamic driver unit each, an ultra-thin TPU diaphragm, and titanium plating. The microphone module packs a dual-cavity design which features an additional channel for air ventilation, thus reducing the effect of wind on voice pick-up. The magnetic switch improves the portability of the earphones. Holding down the in-line controls triggers voice assistant, double tapping skips the current song. Last in the list is the Huawei 12,000mAh Power Bank that supports fast-charging at up to 40W thanks to the company’s SuperCharge tech.
