IMC 2019: Honor Vision smart TV with AI pop-up camera showcased in India

The Honor Vision smart TV has been unveiled at the ongoing Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2019 in New Delhi, India. It’s said to be the world’s first smart TV with AI pop-up camera, which Huawei sub-brand Honor claims enable NPU capability for face recognition. The Honor Vision TV packs 55-inch display with 4K HDR resolution and 94 percent screen-to-body ratio. The TV has a “flagship-level” Wi-Fi chipset, HiSilicon Honghu 818 display SoC ticking at its core, and the company’s in-house HarmonyOS running to take care of the software side of things.

The Honor Vision TV price in India is yet to be announced. The TV, meanwhile, will be launched in the country in Q1 2020. Speaking at the event, Charles Peng president HONOR India said, “We are delighted to unveil the HONOR Vision smart screen in India. As a part of our long-term commitment towards India, we are working towards creating a larger ecosystem of products that can fulfil the aspirations of the discerning Indian consumer. We look forward to making HONOR Vision available for the consumers soon and have them experience the future of television.”

Talking about the specifications, the Honor Vision smart TV is said to give immersive viewing experience with its almost bezel-less 55-inch display. The TV has a wide colour gamut, 178-degree field-of-view, and built-in six 10W speakers. The Honghu 818 SoC that the TV rocks offers powerful computing, decoding, image processing and sound effects optimization capabilities, as per the company. It also improves and enhances image resolution, contrast and colour performance of the display through multiple algorithms such as Motion Estimate and Motion Compensation, High Dynamic Range Imaging (HDR), Super-Resolution, Noise Reduction (NR), Auto Color Management (ACM), and more.

The AI pop-up camera adds video calling feature to the Honor Vision smart TV. Lastly, the device supports multi-device connection and HONOR Smart Vision for smart homes allowing users to connect and switch on the lights, control the curtains, dim the lights and so on.
