The Indian Gadget Awards 2021, the country’s largest tech awards, are right around the corner and we are about to witness a vast pool of tech experts, creators, publications, and influencers join hands to acknowledge the best devices that launched this year. This time around, we have 30 award categories and almost 200 nominees for the same. Clearly, things could not be more exciting than this.

In this category, we will be taking a look at the finest laptops released this year and rewarding four of them. Laptops priced under Rs 60,000 have been considered for the Mainstream category, while there is no price limit for the Premium category. Then there will be gaming laptops, with the mainstream models under Rs 1 lakh and the premium gaming laptops priced above the Rs 1 lakh mark.

Best Laptop of 2021 — Mainstream

It was a big year for laptops, especially affordable ones. Keeping things chugging along for us, be it education or office work, these laptops played a big role in our lives. Let’s find out which model got the most love in this category:

Realme Book Slim (i5 8GB + 512GB)

This lightweight and super slim laptop is a treat to operate and also features a nice design. Its 15.6-inch full HD screen is great for everyday tasks as well as content consumption. And the same can also be said for its dual stereo speakers. It’s got a stellar keyboard with ample key travel and its overall lightweight design is a big plus. This laptop is able to dish out 10 hours of battery life. It comes with Windows 10 Home edition preinstalled and also features a copy of Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition 2019.

Mi NoteBook Pro (8GB + i5)

Xiaomi calls this laptop the lean, mean machine and for good reason. Its thin and light chassis is made from Series 6 Aluminium and it offers strong everyday performance on the back of its 11th Gen Core i5 chip that’s paired with 8GB of RAM. But its crown jewel is definitely the 14-inch TrueLife Display with a 2.5K resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. It’s got an admirable array of ports as well. They include a USB Type-C port and even a Thunderbolt 4 port for connecting two external 4K displays, one 8K display, or an eGPU.

HP has opted for the AMD Ryzen 5 processor for this Pavillion laptop. It offers remarkable performance and its Radeon GPU delivers respectable graphical performance. Like most laptops in his nominee list, this one too comes with 512GB of SSD storage and 8GB of RAM. A 14-inch FHD display is present on this machine, along with a dual speaker system powered by Bang & Olufsen. The large battery of this device is rated for more than 10 hours of video playback.

Dell Vostro 3400 14-inch (Core i5 11th Gen)

Best Laptop of 2021 — Premium

Delivering dollops of oomph and scoring high on all aspects, these premium laptops are quite loaded. But when money is no bar, one really covets the best. Our jury picked the M1 Max-powered MacBook Pro 16-inch as the best premium laptop of the year!

Referred to by ASUS as the world’s lightest 14-inch business laptop, the ExpertBook B9 weighs just 880gms and is only 14.9mm thin. It is built with magnesium-lithium alloy and meets industry-leading MIL-STD 810H standards. Despite its thin and lightweight nature, it’s got a battery that’s capable of 17 hours of video playback. Moreover, it charges up to 60 percent in as little as 39 minutes. One of its highlights is an AI noise cancellation feature that lets you engage in video conferences without worrying about background noise. The 11th Gen Core i7 CPU powers it from within. There’s support for 32GB of RAM and up to 2TB of SSD storage.

Best Gaming Laptop of 2021 – Mainstream

Gaming is serious business. When one is on a budget (say under Rs 1 lakh), the requirement is to balance performance, gaming features, and price.

While figuring out the true gaming champ of 2021 was a touch task, Lenovo Legion 5 Pro eventually pushed past the competition to take the crown home.
