Infinix might still be a relative newcomer to the world of laptops, but it has made a name for itself by consistently delivering value-packed laptops, such as the Inbook Y2 Plus. But how much better can their offerings get if you increase the budget to the Rs 40,000–Rs 60,000 range? The answer: impressively good. Priced at Rs 49,990, the Infinix Inbook Air Pro Plus sets a new benchmark for what a premium laptop can offer, both in design and performance. It’s built to handle the rigours of everyday life, from bustling cafes to busy airports. Here’s our detailed review of the Infinix Inbook Air Pro Plus.

Here is a video review by Florence George:

Design

The design of this laptop is truly impressive. Weighing just under 1 kilogram, the Infinix Inbook Air Pro Plus features an aluminium and magnesium alloy construction across the top lid, bottom panel, keyboard deck, and chassis. This results in a remarkably sturdy build with no noticeable flex. While the design does draw inspiration from brands like Apple, it’s not a major drawback. However, incorporating some distinctive elements from the brand’s previous laptops, such as the signature streaks on the top lid, could have added a unique touch. Overall, it’s a solid and reliable build with no complaints.

This laptop also has a Full HD webcam, which offers very good performance. It also has an IR sensor, which means you can use Windows Hello to log in without typing your password every time.

Display

In terms of display, the Infinix laptop packs a 14-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2.8K (around 1600p) and runs at a refresh rate of 120Hz. Apart from that, you get a 16:10 aspect ratio and a peak brightness of 440 nits. This laptop can play HDR content and covers 100 per cent of sRGB and DCI P3 colour gamuts.

By comparison, the ASUS Vivobook GO 15 OLED has a price of Rs 46,990. It has a bigger 15.6-inch Lumina OLED display at Full HD resolution and runs at a refresh rate of 60 Hz. However, when we compare this against the Infinix laptop, the latter just blows the ASUS laptop out of the water in terms of pure specs.

Overall, while the ASUS Vivobook Go 15 OLED might have the most affordable OLED display in the market, the Infinix Air Pro Plus offer greater value-for-money.

In terms of audio, you get four speakers—two bottom-firing and two front-firing. The volume is pretty good, with good mids and treble, but it lacks bass. Overall, it is a pretty good setup, and in a small room, you can easily watch movies and listen to music. You will enjoy the experience. I have no complaints here.

Keyboard, Trackpad and I/O

The keyboard is really good, with bright backlighting and a comfortable typing experience. The trackpad is decent in size and has a glass surface, making it a joy to use.

In terms of I/O, on the right side, you get a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, a 3.5mm audio combo jack and a USB Type-C port. On the left side, you get two more USB-C ports and an HDMI port. However, only the left side of the USB-C ports supports USB PD, meaning you can charge the laptop only from the left side. This was a little disappointing, as laptops in this range usually have the ability to charge from both the left and the right side.

Performance

In terms of performance, the Infinix Air Pro Plus comes only in a single configuration, that is, with an Intel Core i5 1334U, 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 512GB of SSD. The RAM is soldered on,  meaning you cannot upgrade from its default configuration. There are also no additional SSD slots, only one replaceable one which comes with the laptop. So, even if you could open the lid, there is not much you can do. We would recommend you use an external SSD if you run out of storage, as that will be much more practical.

We have compared this laptop with laptops such as the ASUS Vivobook Go 15 and the Acer Swift Go 14, and here are the results:

Infinix Air Pro Plus CB2024
Infinix Air Pro Plus CBR23
Infinix Air Pro Plus GB6
Infinix Air Pro Plus PCM10
Infinix Air Pro Plus PCM Extended
Infinix Air Pro Plus 3DM TS
Infinix Air Pro Plus 3DM FS
Infinix Air Pro Plus 3DM NR

The Infinix laptop offers a more balanced overall performance. However, the Acer Swift Go 14 stands out with its H-series chip, the Intel i5-13500H, which delivers superior performance at the expense of power efficiency. In comparison, the ASUS Vivobook Go 15, powered by the Ryzen 5 7520U, comes close to the Infinix in single-core and multi-core performance, but falls behind in PCMark and 3DMark tests. This indicates that the Infinix laptop performs slightly better in graphically demanding workloads.

In terms of gaming, we tried two games at Full HD resolution, and here are the results:

GTA 5Normal39
ValorantLow83

We were impressed by the thermal performance of the laptop. At the ambient temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, laptop temperatures usually hover around 60 degrees. The reason might be simply because laptops run at a very low power level of 15 watts. The maximum consumption we saw was around 13.8 watts, which simply meant this laptop did not need much cooling and performed well in our thermals test.

Battery Life

In terms of battery capacity, this laptop comes with a 57Wh battery, and this laptop managed to run an impressive 8 hours and 23 minutes in our PCMark battery test. Compared to other laptops in this price range, it performed well. However, the charger supplied with the laptop is a step down from that of the previous generation of the laptop. The charger is a bit too wide, so when you plug this laptop, then the adjacent sockets get blocked, rendering the sockets useless. We hope the company listens to our feedback and supplies a better-designed charger next time.

Verdict

If you’re looking for a laptop under Rs 60,000 that delivers solid performance, good build, and portable enough to carry between college and home, the Infinix laptop is an excellent choice.

It’s ideal for everyday tasks and downtime activities like watching movies or reels, though it’s not focused on gaming. At this price point, no other laptop in India currently matches what Infinix offers.
