Instagram Stories bug might soon be fixed

According to a report by The Verge, Meta spokesperson Christine Pai has confirmed via an email that the company is aware of the bug and is actively working on fixing the same. As per the spokesperson, Instagram is “working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible,” and they have apologised for the inconvenience caused to the users.

Instagram Stories Bug: Root Cause

The prime cause of the bug seems to be a glitch in the Instagram algorithms, that somehow is failing to remember where a user left off when viewing someone’s Stories. For instance, if someone has posted 10 stories, and you have already taken a look at the first 9, you should see the 10th story the next time (under normal circumstances), but the bug would force you to watch all 10 stories each and every time you view their Stories. Additionally, the vicious cycle repeats itself if and when someone posts a new Story to their feed.

The exact number of people who have been affected by the said bug is relatively unknown, but the reports popping up on Twitter hint that the issue is indeed spreading fairly quickly, and we hope that Instagram fixes it as soon as possible.
