“The new iPad comes with a smart connector that supports external keyboards and is compatible with the first-generation Apple Pencil”
Apple surprised fans tonight at the iPhone 11 launch event by unveiling an affordable, 7th generation iPad that will replace last year’s iPad with 9.7-inch display. The new iPad comes with a larger 10.2-inch Retina display and runs iPadOS and is being positioned as a “serious” replacement to the laptop device. The company announced the iPadOS earlier this year, which is claimed to bring Mac-level multitasking features to Apple’s tablets thanks to the inclusion of support for the full-sized Smart Keyboard and the Apple Pencil stylus. The iPad 7th generation is powered by the A10 Fusion chipset that was present in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
The 10.2-inch display of the new iPad has 2,160 x 1,620 pixels resolution and 264ppi pixel density. Below the screen is the physical Home button with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor integrated in it. The tablet comes in 32GB and 128GB variants, both available in Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + cellular variants. Other key features include AR support, 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers, and Nano SIM + eSIM functionality. On the camera front, buyers will get an 8MP f/2.4 camera on the back and a 1.2MP f/2.2 sensor in the front. As mentioned above, the new iPad also supports the first-generation Apple Pencil, which is great news for all the artists out there. The brand also announced that the new iPad is made from 100 percent recycled materials.
The iPad price in India starts at Rs 29,900 for the 32GB Wi-Fi option ($329 in the US) and and Rs 40,900 for the base cellular variant. It comes in three colour options – Space Gray, Silver, and Gold. It goes on pre-orders starting tonight, with deliveries starting September 30th. Buyers will get Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade subscriptions worth Rs 99 per month each for a year with the new iPad.
