After the iPhone 16 series and Apple Watch Series 9, the Cupertino giant is now expected to launch other products in its portfolio, Macs and iPads. Like every year, Apple will host an event in October to announce new Macs and iPads just a month after it releases the latest line of iPhones.
Ahead of the launch, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, in his Power On newsletter, revealed some key details about the upcoming iPads and Macs and when we can expect them. Let’s have a look.
M4-powered Mac mini and iMac
As per Gurman, Apple is working on an even smaller Mac mini powered by the M4 and M4 Pro chips. The Mac mini could get a design overhaul and become as small as the Apple TV 4K. Moreover, the new Mac mini will reportedly ditch the USB A-ports for USB Type-C ports.
As for the iMac, Apple will upgrade the new model with the M4 chips, an upgrade over the current-gen iMac powered by M3 chips. However, there is no word about any redesign for this new iMac.
MacBook Pro with M4 chips
According to Gurman, Apple will reveal upgraded 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models featuring M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chips at its upcoming event. There are no design modifications rumoured for the MacBooks this year, with upgrades such as an OLED panel and a smaller form not expected until at least 2026.
iPad mini and iPad 11th Gen
Moreover, Gurman says that besides a new iPad mini, there will be new, lower-end iPads (plural) unveiled at the event, so there is a high chance that we’ll see the iPad 11th gen at the event as well.
According to rumours, the upcoming iPad mini will have a faster chip, better front, and rear cameras, a fix for jelly scrolling screen tearing in portrait orientation, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 support, and new shades.
