iPhone 11 allegedly passes through Geekbench with A13 chip and iOS 13.1

An alleged listing of a heretofore unknown iPhone model, labelled as iPhone 12,1, was found on Geekbench today. The handset is seemingly running the latest iOS 13.1 beta version. What does lend a bit of credence to the newfound device is the detection of a motherboard identified as “N104AP,” the same numbering scheme Apple reportedly uses internally in reference to its pending iPhone XR successor. The iPhone 11 series, if it is named as such, will be unveiled on September 10th in the US, as Apple has already sent invites for the big launch. Three new models are expected amongst which an iPhone 11, an iPhone 11 Pro, and an iPhone 11 Pro Max are expected to be launched.

Coming to the Geekbench list, the scores show a 2.66GHz hexa-core chipset with 4GB of RAM and there’s not much of a difference in this new detected CPU if it is indeed the A13 SoC. It simply has a slightly higher clock speed and more base RAM. The A12 Bionic chip, for instance, is fitted with 3GB of RAM and functions at 2.49GHz. This small margin still does lead to a higher single-core score of 5415, presuming we’re looking at an iPhone XR successor indeed. The iPhone XR usually scores around the 4800 mark on Geekbench.

The other point worth noting is that the L1 data cache is pegged at 48KB which is significantly less than the 128KB allotted to A12 Bionic chips. Likewise, the L2 cache is smaller at 4MB, down from 8MB in the iPhone XR. As for the multi-core scores, it is right up there with the best flagships around. Considering Geekbench tests can be fabricated, the authenticity of this listing can very well be a subject of debate. And for that reason, we expect readers not to make any lasting conclusions based on it, especially as the launch date of the upcoming iPhones isn’t very far off.
