During the ‘Far Out’ event on Wednesday, Apple finally announced the latest iPhone 14 series. As expected, the lineup includes the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. These come as successors to the iPhone 13 models from last year. However, the biggest change this year is Apple replacing the mini iPhone with a bigger iPhone 14 Plus. This phone will appeal to those wanting a 6.7-inch sized iPhone but who don’t want to spend a fortune on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
The iPhone 14 Plus and the standard iPhone 14 have received minor upgrades over last year’s series. These changes are reserved for battery and some minor camera improvements. In fact, Apple has even retained the same A15 Bionic chipset that powered the iPhone 13 series last year.
iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus price in India and sale date
The iPhone 14 price in India starts from Rs 79,900 for the 128GB version. The 256GB and 512GB versions are priced at Rs 89,900 and Rs 1,09,900, respectively. The iPhone 14 Plus starts from Rs 89,990 for the 128GB variant, while the 256GB and 512GB versions cost Rs 99,900 and Rs 1,19,900, respectively. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus will be up for pre-orders from September 9th. The former will hit stores on October 7th, while the standard iPhone 14 will be available from September 16th.

The Apple iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus sport 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED displays, respectively, with slim bezels, wide colour gamut, HDR, 1200nits brightness, True Tone regular notch on the top to house the front camera, and Face ID sensors, and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. That’s right, no ProMotion here.
Both iPhones are powered by the A15 Bionic chipset that is developed on the 5nm process and is coupled with a 5-core GPU for graphics and 16-core NPU. The phones ship with 4GB RAM and 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options. They run on the latest iOS 16 stable version out of the box. Connectivity 5G, Wi-Fi, dual-SIM, Bluetooth, GPS, and a Lightning port for charging.
Moving to optics, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus ship with dual-cameras on the back, with a 12MP wide-angle primary sensor with a larger f/1.5 aperture, sensor-shift OIS, and a 12MP secondary ultra-wide-angle lens. There is a 12MP snapper on the front with autofocus for the first time for selfies and video chats. Apple says the rear camera offer 38 percent improved low-light performance it supports Dolby vision for video recording.
Lastly, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus ship with a high-dynamic range gyroscope and dual-core accelerometer that enable ‘Crash Detection, a feature that was seen on the Watch Series 8. The iPhone 14 series also comes with the Emergency SOS via Satellite feature that when pointed directly at a satellite with a clear view of the sky, allows users to send messages even when there is no cellular connection. There’s also a special UI to show you exactly where to point your phone so you can hit a satellite. The feature is free for two years in the US and Canada.
