- iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max’s titanium build might attract discolouration.
- This is however temporary and can be easily wiped off.
- Apple has specifically mentioned this issue in its support page.
The iPhone 15 series went on sale today globally, and in India as well. The new iPhone series features the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. This time, Apple replaced stainless steel for titanium on the Pro models. But it looks like there’s a slight issue where the colour might temporarily change on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max colour changing issue
Apple in its support page about cleaning your iPhone has mentioned about the possible colour change on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. As spotted by MacRumors, the Pro models’ titanium build is prone to fingerprint smudges which might lead to the colour temporarily changing. This issue has also been raised on Reddit who highlighted the discolouration near the volume and action buttons. But this isn’t permanent and can be easily wiped off.
“For iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, the oil from your skin might temporarily alter the color of the outside band. Wiping your iPhone with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth will restore the original look,” Apple said in the support page.
So if you’ve bought or are planning to get the iPhone 15 Pro models, this is something you should be prepared for. But seeing how it isn’t a permanent issue it shouldn’t really be a problem. And it would also make one take extra care of their iPhones.
Separately, Apple appears to have done something to prove the authenticity of iPhone 15 boxes. According to a video shared on X, iPhone 15 boxes have certain labels and QR codes that are visible only under UV light. This is reportedly a new way for consumers to know that their iPhone 15 units are genuine. The labels are at the back of the iPhone 15 box.
