iPhone 16 series sale starts in India today: price, offers, should you buy

As announced in Apple’s “It’s Glowtime” event, the iPhone 16 series is shipping from today. You can grab the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max across Apple Stores and third-party retail partners. iPhone 16 series price in India, launch offers

Although Apple.com isn’t offering any bank discount, when you buy the new iPhones from Flipkart, Amazon and other retailers, you can get up to Rs 5,000 instant off with select bank cards (ICICI on Amazon, SBI and Kotak on Flipkart, all three on Croma). Similarly, Vijay Sales and Reliance Digital have announced tempting bank offers with the new iPhones. 

Besides this, you can also avail of trade-in discounts for your old Android and Apple phones.

Should you buy the iPhone 16 series?

• The vanilla iPhone 16 comes with a 3nm Apple A18 chipset which is faster, more powerful, and efficient than the 4nm Apple A16 Bionic chip inside the iPhone 15. Other improvements include a “50 percent tougher” Ceramic Shield on the front, a lighter build, new colours and finish, Vertical camera lenses (aesthetically different) for spatial photo/video, iOS 18, new customizable Photographic Styles, more RAM, faster-wired charging, faster 25W MagSafe charging, Wi-Fi 7 support, Camera Control, Action Button, better battery life and Apple Intelligence support (not yet available). It however has a 60Hz display, which may disappoint those wanting smoother display phones. 
• iPhone 16 Plus offers a bigger display and more battery life over the regular iPhone 16. Rest, you can find similar generational improvements as mentioned above.
• iPhone 16 Pro gets a slightly bigger display with tougher screen protection, a more powerful A18 Pro processor, 4K120 videos, a 5x optical zoom camera, new colours, iOS 18, new customizable Photographic Styles, Wi-Fi 7 support, Camera Control, better battery life and Apple Intelligence support (not yet available). 
• iPhone 16 Pro Max gives you a bigger display (6.9 inches) and a larger battery than the smaller Pro model besides the improvements mentioned above. 

These are very iterative upgrades over their predecessors and hence iPhone 15 series users may not find game-changing improvements here. But older iPhone users will find several new features, design changes, better and easily accessible cameras, and more power in these new iPhones. As for those considering Androids, you have options like the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, Google Pixel 9 series, ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro, and of course folding phones like Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and OnePlus Open 2.
