Apple starts assembling iPhone 16e in India, will be exported to other markets: report

iPhone 16e is the latest member of the iPhone 16 series. It arrives as a slightly affordable option in the lineup, albeit with some hardware trade-offs. The phone is currently up for pre-orders. Now in the latest report, it is said that the new iPhone 16e is being assembled in India for local sale and export to other markets. Here are the details.

iPhone 16e assembled in India

Economic Times reports that Apple, responding to a query, confirmed that the new iPhone 16e is being assembled in India.
These units will be sold locally in the country and also exported to other markets.
The report added that the entire iPhone 16 series is being assembled in the country.

Apple has been ramping up its production footprint in India in recent years.
As per a report from Nikkei Asia, the share of iPhones made in India is said to grow from around 15 percent in the current state to 25 percent by 2027.
Back in December, it was said that Apple would begin production of AirPods in India for the first time at some point later this year.

iPhone 16e: what’s on offer?

Display: The iPhone 16E sports a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 60Hz refresh rate, 1,200 nits peak brightness, and Ceramic Shield for protection.
Cameras: The iPhone 16e features a single 48MP Fusion camera on the back. We get a 12MP shooter on the front for selfies.
Processor: Powering the new iPhone is the A18 chip, which is a binned variant with one less GPU core compared to the A18 SoC used on the iPhone 16.
OS: It runs on the latest iOS 18 out of the box. There is support for Apple Intelligence.
Other features: IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, FaceID, iPhone 15-like Action Button, and USB Type-C port.

The iPhone 16e price in India starts at Rs 59,900 for the 128GB variant, Rs 69,900 for the 256GB, and Rs 89,900 for the 512GB variant. The phone can be pre-ordered in India currently, with sales starting on February 28th.
