Apple iPhone SE 2020 AnTuTu benchmark score suggests phone is not as fast as iPhone 11

iPhone SE 2020 seems to be using an underclocked A13 Bionic chipset

Highlights
  • iPhone SE 2020 with the A13 Bionic chipset scored less than 500,000 on AnTuTu
  • Memory speed keeps the 256GB iPhone SE in line with the iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone SE 2020 comes with 3GB RAM, which could be a reason for the lower score

iPhone SE 2020 was launched last week and a lot has been said about how the $399 iPhone ships with the latest flagship A13 Bionic processor, which also happens to power the more high-end iPhone 11 lineup. Naturally, one would expect the iPhone SE 2020 to deliver the same kind of performance as the more expensive iPhone 11 and 11 Pro models. The new iPhone SE has has now appeared on the AnTuTu benchmark platform and surprisingly scored relatively lower 4,92,166 points compared to the iPhone 11 models. To recall, the iPhone 11 Pro scored 5,21,010 points with the same A13 chipset. On close observation of the CPU and GPU yield, the results of the iPhone SE 2020 are closer to 2018’s iPhone XS and XS Max that have A12 platform.

Memory speed is the only segment that is pushing the 256GB iPhone SE ahead of the XS models and keeps it in line with the iPhone 11 Pro. The underwhelming AnTuTu score of iPhone SE 2020 suggests it could be shipping with an underclocked A13 Bionic chipset in order to improve battery life. But then again, the iPhone 11 Pro packs 4GB RAM, while the iPhone SE 2020 has just 3GB RAM and this could also be the reason for a lower score. Since this is an early benchmark result, it may not give the final picture. However, the performance would still be better than any $399 Android phone available in the market, especially in the graphics department.
