Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO made its debut in India with the launch of iQOO 3 and its 5G version. Now, six months after the announcement, the brand seems to be gearing up for the launch of a new smartphone in the country soon. The teaser image reads “We’re joining forces and approaching break-neck speeds. It is unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Stay tuned to know more.#DrivePerformancecoming soon”. While this doesn’t explicitly mention the iQOO 5, which is set to launch in China on August 17th, there’s a possibility it could be it. The tweet also hints at a special edition phone from iQOO in collaboration with a sports car maker.

We recently come across a rendered image, showing off the design of the iQOO 5. The iQOO 5 is expected to come with Snapdragon 865 SoC with Adreno 650 GPU and 5G connectivity. The phone confirmed to get a 120Hz refresh rate (240Hz touch response rate), a curved display, a single punch hole to the left corner, and the Corning Gorilla Glass layer on top. The phone may pack LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage that may be expandable. The USP of the iQOO 5 is its 120W fast charging support that is claimed to charge a 4,000mAh battery in just 15 minutes. The handset is likely to run Android 10 OS, probably skinned with iQOO’s custom skin on top.

The iQOO 5 will also feature 120db Hi-Fidelity, Hi-Res Audio. Unfortunately, the optic details, exact battery capacity, and storage options are still a mystery. There could be multiple iQOO 5 models launching, but we’re not sure whether all these would find their way to India.
