iQOO, a Vivo sub-brand, seems to be on a launch spree. After unveiling the iQOO Z3 5G for the global markets last month, the company seems to be preparing to launch yet another smartphone, purportedly called iQOO 8. Earlier today, iQOO President, Feng Yufei, posted a video on the Chinese social media platform, Weibo. It shows a pool board on which an ‘eight’ ball hits a ‘four’ ball. It hints that iQOO could launch its next smartphone on August 4th 2021. Although the post doesn’t reveal the name of the upcoming iQOO smartphone, everyone is speculating it to be the iQOO 8 as it is the only iQOO smartphone that is in the pipeline.
iQOO could launch iQOO 8 on August 4th
On Monday, @WhyLab posted an image on Weibo showing a launch poster of the iQOO 8. The Weibo account claimed that the iQOO 8 launch date is August 4th. And today, the iQOO President has posted a video hinting towards a launch of a new smartphone on August 4th. That can’t be a coincidence. Considering yesterday’s leak and the latest post from the iQOO official, it is safe to assume that iQOO is launching the iQOO 8 on August 4th.
iQOO 8, the first phone with Snapdragon 888 Plus
According to WhyLab, the iQOO 8 will be the first smartphone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC, which had made its debut earlier this month. The iQOO 8 poster reveals that it will feature FlashCharge technology. According to various rumours, the phone will have a 120W charging speed. Soon after the leak from WhyLab, Digital Chat Station jumped in on the matter and revealed that the model number of the iQOO 8 is V2141A.

Fortunately for us, Digital Chat Station has also tipped the iQOO 8 specifications. According to it, the iQOO 8 will have a display with QHD+ resolution. The Weibo tipster claims that the smartphone will have 12GB of physical RAM and 4GB of virtual RAM. It also posted an alleged screenshot of the About Phone menu of the iQOO 8. According to that, the phone will come with 256GB of storage and the Android 11 OS.
