“IQOO’s first smartphone looks like an all-out flagship with premium features.”
Vivo’s newly formed sub-brand IQOO has just revealed the launch date of its first smartphone on its official channel on Weibo. The unnamed handset will launch on March 1st after the hustle and bustle of MWC 2019. The recent past week has seen a number of teasers with the latest one and the most detailed one dropping yesterday from the company. IQOO will dabble in premium smartphones, it appears, as the company hinted its first smartphone will bear a Snapdragon 855 SoC inside its guts.
As far as key specifications are concerned, the last teaser left little to the imagination. The handset has 12GB of RAM coupled with 256GB of onboard making it a real beast in terms of raw power on paper. Another interesting feature will be 44W Flash Charge which is said to be Vivo’s version of Super VOOC. It would debut for the first time under IQOO’s moniker and the handset has a pretty big 4,000mAh battery with a USB Type-C port. Other teased features include Super HDR (which is probably an enhanced HDR mode for the camera), 4D Shock, and NFC. A previous teaser also revealed an on-screen fingerprint reader on the smartphone which could actually end up being a gaming device from Vivo owing to the sporty theme of all the teasers.
Regarding the looks of the upcoming device, the IQOO smartphone leaked on a live TV broadcast of an NBA match in China. It wasn’t seen in full but a triple camera on the rear could be confirmed. Talk around Chinese is that the handset could cost around 5,000 Yuan.
