BGMI test
The final performance metric is the gaming test. We tested both smartphones while playing BGMI at the highest supported resolution, Ultra HDR, and Ultra frame rate settings. The gaming performance on both smartphones is equally impressive, with detailed visuals and excellent frame rates.
Where differences diverge, however, is that the OnePlus 12R offers a better visual output with rich colours and details, thanks to its vibrant display panel and impressive thermal regulation. The iQOO Neo 9 Pro offers a better draw distance (more visibility for far-away objects) and comparatively faster object loading times, but the thermals are not as impressive as the OnePlus 12R, as the device did heat up substantially. The differences between the two devices are not very significant, and both smartphones offer excellent gaming performance, ensuring a satisfying experience.
Verdict
- As evident from all the performance tests conducted above, the iQOO Neo 9 Pro beats the OnePlus 12R when it comes to benchmarks and offers a comparable gaming experience.
- If maximum performance is your highest priority, the iQOO Neo 9 Pro is an easy choice. It also comes with 120W fast charging support, which allows the smartphone to recharge extremely quickly.
- The OnePlus 12R, however, offers a more holistic smartphone experience. The thermals are much better on the OnePlus 12R, which leads to an improved component life.
- The OnePlus 12R also has a better display panel, which is much brighter (4,500nits) and sharper screen in comparison to the iQOO Neo 9 Pro. While both devices will get three years of major Android updates, the OnePlus 12R offers a relatively cleaner software experience.
