IQOO Pro 5G set for launch on August 22nd in China

“The IQOO Pro 5G is the third handset of the newly formed Vivo subsidiary”

The IQOO Pro 5G was officially teased late last month by the company on its Chinese social media handles. Today, we have an official launch date for the first 5G handset from the Vivo sub-brand – August 22nd. This will be the third offering from the company in a short span of six months as it just recently announced the IQOO Neo, a watered-down version of its first flagship.

The IQOO Pro 5G could be the Vivo V1916A model that was earlier spotted on the CCC portal in China. This model was found with 44W fast-charge support, similar to what IQOO’s original flagship has. The handset’s design is expected to be similar to the original IQOO, as hinted in official teasers. Also, it was spotted at the ChinaJoy 2019 expo with iQOO President Violet Sung. This spotting revealed a triple camera setup on the rear and a 5G logo. We expect the front to house the same waterdrop notch design as its younger siblings. In terms of processor, we could see an upgrade with a Snapdragon 855+ displacing the Snapdragon 855. It is also likely that the handset will boast an in-screen fingerprint reader.

Speculation is rife that the IQOO Pro 5G will house a 4,500mAh battery coupled with 6GB of RAM starting with 128GB of onboard storage. Vice President of IQOO, Feng Yufei, has said that the IQOO Pro 5G will ace departments like performance, cameras, battery life, gaming experience and sound quality. Give IQOO’s aggressive pricing strategy, we expect the IQOO Pro 5G to be priced somewhere around the 4,500 Yuan mark in China.
