PCMark
In an ideal world, the battery backup of a smartphone is analysed after using it for weeks at a time. However, when we are comparing two smartphones side by side, this doesn’t work as the usage pattern for both devices might be different, and that would affect the final battery backup results. This is why we rely on the PCMark battery test, which simulates identical usage scenarios on both devices till the battery drops to 20 percent to gauge the battery performance.
This was an obvious outcome, as the iQOO Z10, with a much bigger battery, lasted a whopping 16.68 hours on our PCMark Battery test. In comparison, the POCO X7 lasted for a lesser 11.87 hours, which is still impressive at this price point.
Real-world context: The iQOO Z10 definitely has an edge due to its bigger battery size, which will last you for two days of moderate usage. The POCO X7 is not a slouch either and will see you through a whole day and some more of moderate usage.
Winner: iQOO Z10
YouTube video streaming
30-minute YouTube streaming test to check battery drain (lower is better)
Everyone and their neighbours these days are consuming TV shows and multimedia through online streaming. Therefore, it’s better for a device to offer a solid streaming battery performance. To test this, we set the brightness and volume to 50 percent and played a full HD YouTube video on a loop for 30 minutes on both smartphones.
Smartphone | Video streaming test result |
iQOO Z10 | 1 percent |
POCO X7 | 4 percent |
The iQOO Z10 again clinched the win in our video streaming battery test, with only a 1 percent battery drop after the 30-minute YouTube session. In comparison, the POCO X7 lost 4 percent of its battery.
Real-world context: If you are a binge-watcher who loves to catch up on your favourite show on the go, the iQOO Z10 will serve you much better. The POCO X7 might make you hunt for a powerbank mid-way through the show.
Winner: iQOO Z10
Gaming test
Assessing battery drain after 90 minutes of gaming (lower is better)
Smartphone | Battery drain after 60 minutes |
iQOO Z10 | 11 percent |
POCO X7 | 19 percent |
Real-world context: If you are an avid gamer and hate playing with the charger plugged in, the iQOO Z10 offers better battery performance in the gaming department, too. The POCO X7 is also a commendable gaming device, but it will need to be plugged in sooner.
Charging test
Time taken to charge from 20 to 100 percent battery capacity (lower is better)
We drained both smartphones down to 20 percent and then charged fully to measure the time taken. The iQOO Z10 supports 90w fast charging, whereas the POCO X7 supports 45w charging. Both devices come with compatible chargers in the box.
Smartphone | Time taken to charge from 20 percent to 100 percent |
iQOO Z10 | 42 minutes |
POCO X7 | 51 minutes |
The iQOO Z10, with faster charging support, takes only 42 minutes to charge fully despite the massive battery. However, the POCO X7 doesn’t take much longer to charge fully despite its half the charging speed because of the smaller battery size.
Real-world context: Both iQOO Z10 and POCO X7 will charge in a jiffy. If you are looking for a smartphone that can charge fast, you can pick either of these two, as the difference of 9 minutes in their charging time is negligible.
Winner: Tie
