iQOO Z9x vs Moto G64 battery comparison: which 6,000mAh phone lasts longer?

If you’re looking for a smartphone with an aggressive price tag and reliable battery backup, iQOO Z9x and Moto G64 (review) are likely to feature on your list. Both smartphones pack a massive 6,000mAh battery with support for fast charging (charger included in the box). A big battery also does not necessarily mean an increased weight by a great margin, at least in the context of these two phones.

For instance, the iQOO Z9x weighs 199 grams, only 11 grams heavier than the iQOO Z9, which includes a 5,000mAh battery. The Moto G64 weighs 192 grams, the same as its predecessor (Moto G54), also carrying a 6,000mAh battery.

If battery is a priority, should you go for the Moto G64 or iQOO Z9x in the sub-Rs 15,000 segment? Here’s a comparison.

PCMark test

PCMark’s battery test provides a good indication of battery life, especially when using a smartphone with basic features enabled. In our test, we enabled flight mode and set both audio and brightness to 80 percent. We also ensured the phones were fully charged to 100 percent before measuring the time it took to drop to 20 percent.

Both iQOO Z9x and Moto G64 took over 15 hours to drop from 100 to 20 percent, a highly respectable score. The iQOO Z9x survived for 20 hours and 19 minutes versus 19 hours and 39 minutes by the Moto G64.

Winner: iQOO Z9x

Video streaming test

The next test involves playing a high-res YouTube video for straight minutes. We ensured that the brightness and audio were adjusted to the same level for a fair contest.

Gaming test

The iQOO Z9x and Moto G64 are capable of running demanding titles, including BMGI and COD (Call of Duty), at moderate settings. Since the smartphones utilise an LCD screen, the viewing experience was decent at best. We also measured the battery drop by playing Real Racing 3.

We played each of the three games for 30 minutes and then calculated the average battery drop.

After playing BGMI for 30 minutes, iQOO Z9’s battery dropped by 5 percent, while Moto G64 consumed 6 percent battery. At the end of the COD round, both phones consumed 6 percent battery. Finally, 30 minutes of Real Racing contributed to a 5 percent battery drop in both of these smartphones. On average, the iQOO Z9 consumed less battery, though the difference was marginal.

Winner: iQOO Z9x

Charging speed

As mentioned, both smartphones support fast charging, though there’s a difference in their inputs. The iQOO Z9x supports 44W charging, while Moto G64 gets 30W charging support (box includes 33W adapter).

Naturally, numbers favour iQOO Z9x in this case, and the smartphone takes nearly an hour to charge from 20 to 100 percent. The Moto G64 took 70 minutes to attain 100 percent charge (from 20 percent).

Winner: iQOO Z9

Verdict

In terms of charging speed, the iQOO Z9x gets the upper hand, though the difference isn’t substantially wide. In terms of battery backup, both devices are more or less on par, though data favours the iQOO Z9x slightly.

Therefore, in our battery comparison, the iQOO Z9x emerged as the winner, though differences are marginal. If you’re wondering how the two phones fare against each other in terms of performance, here’s our detailed comparison.
