itel – a sub-brand owned by Hong Kong-based Transsion Holdings – has introduced a new smartphone, the A44 Air, in India. The handset is an Android Go phone, which means it runs a tweaked version of Android Oreo OS and ships with modest specifications. The major highlight of the new itel phone is its dual rear camera setup, which is backed by artificial intelligence (AI) to further enhance the results.

The itel A44 Air priced in India has been set as Rs 4,999. It goes for sale across the country starting today at select retail stores. The phone comes in three colour variants: Blusher Gold, Elegant Blue, and Slate Grey.

As for the specifications, the itel A44 Air ships with a 5.45-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 480 x 960 pixels resolution. The phone is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core SC9823E chipset, accompanied by 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage, which can be expandable up to 32GB by adding a microSD card. A 2,400mAh battery fuels the dual SIM 4G LTE device.
In the camera department, the itel A44 Air sports a 5-megapixel primary sensor paired with a 0.08-megapixel secondary sensor and LED flash. The camera is backed by AI Face Beauty mode, AI Super Night Shot, AI HD video recording mode, and portrait mode. The front camera gets a 2-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling. It can also be used to unlock the device via facial recognition.
