Jio 5G Welcome Offer: 5G plans, how to get the invite, available cities, and more

Jio has announced the 5G Welcome Offer for its users to get their first hands-on experience with the 5G network. Unlike Airtel, which has already initialised the 5G rollout in a few parts of the country, Jio is first moving ahead with a beta program and is selecting users on an invite basis only. This will enable the telco to take feedback regarding the Jio 5G services before the final rollout begins in the next couple of months. In case you are a Jio user and own a 5G compatible smartphone, here’s everything you need to know about Jio 5G Welcome offer, plans, invite, and more:

    How-to-get-Jio-5G-Welcome-Offer-invitation
    • Open ‘MyJio’ app on your smartphone
    • Then look for the ‘Jio Welcome Offer’ banner on the top portion of the app. If no such option is present it means the invite is yet to roll out for your mobile number.
    • Next, click on the ‘I am interested’ button
    • On the next screen tap on ‘Done’ to finish the process
    • In the backend, Jio will ascertain the 5G availability in your location as well as check the 5G compatibility of your smartphone
    • Once it’s done, you’ll be notified whether you’ve been selected for the 5G trials or not via SMS or the app itself

At this point, it is still unclear when 5G will actually be made available to those registering for the Welcome Offer. You may or may not get 5G networks on your smartphone right away. Jio earlier stated it plans to roll out the service by Diwali so it’s possible with this invite-based program the company is gathering an initial lot of beta testers. Additionally, beta users can also share their feedback and experience of using Jio 5G with the telco so that they can make necessary improvements for the full-fledged rollout in the next couple of months.

    Jio 5G plans

Reliance Jio has not revealed any 5G plans as of now. As for the Welcome Offer, users will be able to enjoy unlimited internet consumption at no extra cost provided the mobile number is recharged with any Rs 239 and above plan. Users will continue to avail this benefit till the Welcome Offer period ends or whenever Jio announces the 5G plans in the future.

    Jio 5G speed

Per the company, customers enrolled in the Jio 5G Welcome Offer trials will be able to get unlimited 5G data with up to 1 Gbps or above speed. However, do note that since 5G is still in its early stages, it’s more than likely you’d be able to achieve such claimed speeds only in public places or near a 5G tower in your locality.
