Airtel launches smart recharge of Rs 23 to extend account validity by 28 days

“The Airtel’s new Rs 23 prepaid pack doesn’t offer any voice or data benefits”

Bharti Airtel has introduced a new prepaid pack of Rs 23 in India. The scheme allows users to extend the validity of subscribers to 28 days. Unlike other top-ups, the new recharge doesn’t offer any voice, data, or SMS benefits, but it allows users to continue using the service. It was evident from the telco to announce the scheme as it is planning to increase its average revenue per users (ARPU) and reduce the liability of non-paying customers from their subscribers base.

Airtel’s new Rs 23 pack provides local and STD calls at 2.5 paise per second. Sending a local SMS will cost Re 1, while a national SMS bears a price of Rs 1.5. As stated above, there are no data benefits with the recharge, and the services are valid till 28 days only. As reported by TelecomTalk, the recharge can be found on Airtel’s official website or myairtel app under ‘smart recharge’ category.

The Rs 25 recharge is the most affordable lowest in the list, followed by Rs 35 that includes a talk time worth Rs 26.66 as well as 100MB of data for 28 days. The lineup goes up to Rs 245 pack that offers the same amount of talk time along with local, STD, and landline voice calls at 30 paise per minute and 2GB data per day. The scheme is valid up to 84 days.

Notably, the Airtel’s smart recharges are limited to select circles only right now. However, it’s likely that the telco will go pan-India with the scheme in the near future.
