BSNL partners with Eros Now to offer online streaming content free with select recharges and plans

“BSNL subscribers purchasing the select STVs will be able to watch Eros Now movies, music videos, web shows, and videos at no extra charges”

BSNL is celebrating the start of 2019 by giving subscribers free access to India’s premiere online video brand Eros Now. The state-owned telco has announced a partnership with Eros to offer access to over 11,000 movie titles, music videos, original web shows, and exclusive videos for free to its customers. The Eros Now subscription scheme will be available with select BSNL STV/ prepaid packs though. The company is yet to reveal the details of the select plans and packs, but it says that the service will be made available to BSNL customers by the end of January.

Commenting on the partnership, Anupam Shrivastava Chairman and Managing Director BSNL said that “keeping up to the commitment of offering great service to subscribers, (we’re) offering unlimited free viewing of video content on the Eros Now app.”

With the partnership, both BSNL and Eros Now are trying to tap the over-the-top (OTT) industry in India, which is expected to reach a size of $5 billion by 2023. As per Eros Now CEO Rishika Lulla Singh, “the rural areas of India (is) witnessing a sizeable increase in mobile penetration and data consumption. We are well poised to cater to this growing community and our alliance with BSNL is a step towards bridging the urban-rural gap and expanding Eros Now’s national reach.”
