Jio-Google 4G smartphone to launch before Diwali
According to a new report from Economic Times, citing anonymous sources close to the matter, Reliance will launch its upcoming Android-powered 4G smartphone before Diwali this year. So, you can expect the Jio-Google 4G smartphone launch date on or before 4th November. According to the publication, that would be the perfect time for the launch of the smartphone as the COVID-19 situation would have been improved by then and the demand for smartphones is likely to revive.
Recently, a report came out suggesting that Reliance will make the announcement for its upcoming Jio 5G phone during the Reliance’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) that is scheduled for 24th June 2021. The announcement would reveal the Jio 5G phone price in India and specifications. The 4G phone could also be revealed on that day. The actual rollout/sale would be around Diwali as Economic Times reports.
Jio-Google 4G smartphone price in India tipped
Economic Times claims that the upcoming 4G smartphone from Reliance Jio and Google will be priced below $50 (approximately Rs 3,637), making it one of the most affordable Android smartphones in the market. According to various reports, Reliance wants to increase its subscriber base by offering affordable 4G/5G smartphones. The telecom operator currently has 426 million users. The company plans to push the number to 500 million in the near future. The upcoming Reliance Jio-Google smartphones are said to help the brand to achieve the target.
While there is no information regarding the specifications of the smartphone, what we do know is that Google will work on the software for the device. Moreover, the phone is said to be available in 4G and 5G models. Maybe, the phone will ship with the Android Go OS considering the handset’s affordable pricing. Economic Times reports that the Jio-Google smartphone is currently being tested at Wingtech Mobiles, Dixon Technologies, UTL Neolyncs, and Flextronics Technologies. The publication says that the R&D phase of the device has been completed and the company is sourcing components from the likes of Tata Electronics.
