“The JioRail app is available to download from the Jio App Store and lets users pay for tickets using debit and credit cards as well as e-wallets”
Jio has launched an app for users of its 4G feature phones to let them conveniently book train tickets, view ticket history, and check PNR status. The new JioRail app for the Jio Phone and Jio Phone 2 also lets users book tickets in Tatkal in cases of emergency travel plans. The new JioRail app is available for download on Jio App Store and lets users make payments for tickets via debit cards, credit cards, and e-wallets, etc.
The new JioRail app works as a gateway to the IRCTC train booking service. It works with the IRCTC ID – even if you don’t have it, you can create one within the app. Other than checking PNR status or booking a train ticket, JioRail app also lets you check train information, timings, routes, seat availability and several other services at a click of a button on their Jio Phones.
“Train ticket booking has been made quite simple on the JioRail app. With this unique service, India’s consumers can avoid standing in long queues or pay agent fees to book tickets and instead enjoy an enhanced digital life experience,” said Jio in a press statement. The company further added that it’s working on the app to offer enhanced services like PNR status change alerts, train locator, and food ordering in the future.
For the uninitiated, the Jio Phones are the in-house devices from the telecom operator Jio. The company introduced it back in 2017 and followed it up with JioPhone 2 last year. The handsets work with Jio SIM and offer functions similar to that of a smartphone but on a smaller screen. You can stream content from YouTube and JioTV, chat using WhatsApp, and now book train tickets via JioRail.
