“Next year’s iPhone models will all feature an edge-to-edge bezel-less display”
Earlier this month, the noted KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, in a memo to investors, claimed that Apple will continue to incorporate a 6-element camera system on the iPhone X’s 2018 model. Now, the reliable source is back with more details on next year’s iPhone models. Kuo suggests that Apple will launch three new iPhones next year, including an iPhone with a TFT LCD panel. All three iPhone models next year will feature an edge-to-edge bezel-less display, just like the iPhone X (first impressions).
Kuo issued a note to investors on Monday, which suggests that Apple is working on a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone to be launched in the second half of next year. This model is likely to be launched as the iPhone X Plus, which will take the general size of the plus-sized iPhone and add an edge-to-edge OLED display. There will also be a 5.8-inch OLED iPhone next year as well. The 6.5-inch OLED model will feature a pixel density of 480 to 500ppi, while the 5.8-inch variant may offer a pixel density of 458ppi.
As for the iPhone model with a TFT LCD display panel, the source suggests that it will offer a 6.1-inch screen with a pixel density of around 320 to 330ppi. It is expected to be the Cupertino tech giant’s entry-level iPhone, and will reportedly be priced between $649 and $749.
Kuo further predicts that all three iPhones coming next year will have the same edge-to-edge design found on the iPhone X. They are unlikely to come with a Touch ID sensor. They will also have a u-shaped notch above the screen, which will house the TrueDepth Camera system and Face ID sensor. The company is expected to launch next year’s iPhone models next September. It’s worth mentioning that none of this information has been confirmed, so it’s advisable to take it with a pinch of salt.
