New Kia EV6 has been spied at the company’s plant in Andhra Pradesh, India. It confirms the colour options of the upcoming electric car whose bookings are officially set to begin from May 26th in the country. The Kia EV6 will be a premium offering and the first EV from the South Korean automobile maker in India. The car has already been launched globally, with features that are widely appreciated. The EV6 was rated as the European Car of the year. Here’s everything we know so far:
Kia EV6 spotted in multiple colour options
The Kia EV6 seems to be ready for launch, as the car was spied in multiple shades of colour in what looks like Kia’s own premise. The pictures that have come along so far show the Red, White, and Silver hues on the car. There could be other colour variants of the Kia EV6, including black, blue, and grey, as well.
Additionally, as seen from the images, the cars seem to have come fresh off the production line and still have protective films on the body. This suggests that the Kia EV6 launch is just around the corner.
Kia EV6 electric car India launch date
There is no word on the Kia EV6 India launch date yet. However, it’s widely speculated that the company could take the wraps off the electric car in the country as early as June. The EV6 has already been launched globally. It’s being widely appreciated for its advanced features and was rated 2022 European Car of the year.
The Kia EV6 will also lead the way for many other models while including the Kia e-Niro SUV as well as a mass-market EV. The Kia-Hyundai partnership plans to bring along a total of 6 EV products to India. This will also comprise products from Hyundai’s international portfolio, such as the IONIQ 5 and the Kona EV facelift. Currently, Hyundai only offers the first generation Kona EV SUV in India as their sole EV offering.
Kia EV6 specifications and expected price
The Kia EV6 will incorporate a fully electric drive train with multiple motor layout configurations, battery capacities and power output. The range starts with a single motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup and is paired to a 58kWh battery pack. This powertrain develops 170bhp of peak power and delivers 394km of range. The top of the line GT line model with all-wheel drive architecture in dual motor configuration is paired to a 77kWh battery pack. This churns out 585bhp of peak power and 740Nm of peak torque. This variant of the EV6 is capable of 400km of range on a single charge.
The Kia EV6 will enter India via the CBU route and is expected to be priced at around Rs 50 – 60 lakhs (ex-showroom). The vehicle is expected to launch in India by June 2022. Bookings will open officially on May 26th, ahead of the launch.
