Kia India has finally launched the Kia EV6 premium electric crossover in India. The Korean automaker had teased and later unveiled the product for the Indian market. A media drive that took place shortly after previewed the vehicle for most Indian customers. Kia started taking bookings for the EV6 on May 26th via its official website and select Kia dealerships. The vehicle is a CBU import and Kia had initially planned to only bring a limited 100 units to the country.

Kia EV6 will deliver 528km of range and will be available in two powertrain configurations – rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD). The motors on both the configurations are mated to a 77.4kWh Li-ion battery. 

Kia EV6 price in India

The Kia EV6 will be a direct import and the Korean carmaker is bringing in 100 units of the vehicle to the country. The Kia EV6 will be available in two trims – GT Line RWD and GT Line AWD. The GT Line RWD variant has been priced at Rs 59.95 lakhs (ex-showroom) while the top-spec GT Line AWD variant has a sticker price of Rs 64.95 lakhs (ex-showroom). 

Kia initially had plans of bringing 100 units to India; however, a strong response has landed the manufacturer with 355 bookings in hand. Kia plans to scale up their plans and deliver more cars than originally intended. Deliveries for the Kia EV6 begin in September 2022. 

The EV6 will be available across 15 dealerships located in 12 Indian cities. The EV6 will be offered in Snow White Pearl Aurora Black Pearl, Runway Red, Yacht Blue and Moonscape colour options. The interiors will get a single black tone with blue seats. 

Kia EV6 specifications 

The Kia EV6 will be offered in the top-spec GT Line trim levels and can be had in RWD or AWD powertrain configurations. The RWD version gets a single motor setup while the AWD version gets a dual-motor setup. Both the configurations will play host to a 77.4kWh Li-ion battery pack.

In the RWD version, the EV6 produces 229bhp of peak power and 350Nm of peak torque. The AWD version produces 325hp and 605Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The AWD variant goes from 0 to 100kmph in 5.2 seconds. Kia EV6 claims a 528km range on a single charge. The EV6 accepts up to 350kW charging and can juice up from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. However, at Indian fast charging points where output is rated at 150kW, the EV6 charges up to 80 percent in 42 minutes.

On the outside, there’s an array of LED lighting setups with unique design elements. The design elements also incorporate 19-inch wheels and a modern iteration of the Kia’s Tiger Nose grille. Inside, there’s a dual 12.3-inch screen setup for MID and central infotainment, a wide electric sunroof, ventilated front seats, climate control, an electric parking brake with an auto-hold function, different drive modes, heads-up display, 14-speaker Meridian sound system, connected car tech and more. The vehicle also features an elaborate 10+ functions ADAS and 8 airbags and has received a 5 star certification in the GNCAP.
