The home-bred handset maker, Lava recently launched its first Android Go smartphone, called the Z50 (first impressions) in India. Now, the brand has expanded its Z series with yet another first in the form of the Lava Z91. With the new handset, Lava is joining the bezel-less bandwagon in the budget segment.
The Lava Z91 flaunts a 5.7-inch display with minimal side bezels, with the space above holding an earpiece, a couple of sensors and a secondary camera and a chin at the bottom. The screen features a tall aspect ratio of 18:9 with a resolution of 1,440 x 720 pixels. The display panel on the handset is layered with a 2.5D curved glass. The performance department is handled by a MediaTek MTK6739 processor, which is backed by 3GB RAM. The smartphone comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage with support for microSD cards up to 128GB. As for the software, the Z91 runs Star OS 4.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat.
On the imaging front, the Lava Z91 includes a 13-megapixel shooter on the rear panel, which is equipped with f/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. The camera is also capable of capturing bokeh images using software processing. For selfies, it sports an 8-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture. Along with unlocking, the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner can also be used as a shortcut key to launch apps using different fingers. Additionally, there is support for face unlock using the front camera as well. A 3,000mAh battery rounds up the spec sheet of the handset.
