Google’s Pixel lineup has managed to have a distinct look with a protruding rear camera bump but its upcoming Pixel 9a could veer off from this signature design. The freshly leaked Pixel 9a renders show the phone’s appearance. It does look different from other recent Pixel smartphones including its predecessor, the Pixel 8a. Come on, have a look:
Pixel 9a renders leak design
So, the rear camera island looks depressed on the Pixel 9a. Still, something about the oblong-shaped camera housing (with two lenses like the Pixel 9), the flashlight module, and the Google logo makes this look very much like a Pixel phone.
Back in August, we saw some leaked images of the phone. These new renders from oft-right leaker OnLeaks (via AndroidHeadlines) give us a clearer look from different angles.
The back side seems reflective. We also gather the forthcoming Pixel will have flatter edges. The right side has the volume rockers and power button. There’s nothing on the left side. The bottom side has the USB-C port, speaker slit, and the SIM slot.
On the front, we see a punch hole and thick bezels, suggesting an economical make. So, perhaps the recessed camera island and those bezels could be one of Google’s ways to segment the Pixel ‘a’ series from the rest of the lineup.
Here’s what we know about its internals:
Google Pixel 9a specifications: what we know
Another way the Pixel 9a could differ from the rest of the Pixel 9 lineup is that it reportedly ships with Android 15 out of the box. It could also get the 7 years of Android upgrade promise, like the Pixel 8a. A good custom, we say.
Another similarity could be the underlying processor. A Samsung-made Tensor G4 could power the Pixel 9a like other Pixel 9 phones. The Pixel 8a had the same chipset as its siblings. So, we suppose the Pixel 9a chip could have eight cores viz., a Cortex-X4 prime core with 3.1 GHz clock speed, three Cortex-A720 performance cores with 2.6 GHz frequency and four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores running at 1.92 GHz clock speed.
Besides that, the front display could be bigger than the Pixel 8a and its codename is rumoured to be Tegu.
That’s about all we know for now.
