“The Le Max 2 sports a 21MP OIS rear snapper, an 8MP front shooter and an Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor”
Chinese conglomerate LeEco (formerly LeTV) marked its debut in India in January with the launch of the Le 1s and Le Max smartphones. Announced in April last year, the Le Max was one of the first smartphones to utilise the reversible USB Type-C port. The brand recently unveiled an upgraded version of the phablet dubbed the Le Max 2, as its first handset to boast 6GB of RAM. Today, at an event in New Delhi, the company has launched the Le Max 2 flagship in India.
The LeEco Le Max 2 (first impressions) is one of the first smartphones to get rid of the 3.5mm audio jack. The phone sports the brand’s new Continual Digital Lossless Audio (CDLA) standard, which delivers lossless audio through the USB Type-C port. It comes with a Qualcomm Sense ID Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor at the back, which offers high level of accuracy and also works with wet fingers. The device also features Dolby Atmos-powered speakers and an Infrared sensor.
As for the other specs, the Le Max 2 flaunts a 5.7-inch quad-HD display, and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The phone is backed by a 2.15GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, mated to an Adreno 530 GPU. It sports a 21MP rear snapper with a Sony IMX230 sensor, OIS, PDAF, 6P lenses, dual-tone LED flash and f/2.0 aperture. For selfies, the device gets an 8MP front-facing shooter.
Apart from a USB Type-C port, the phone’s other connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS. A 3,100mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 tech keeps the phone alive. The Le Max 2 comes in two configurations – one with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and the other with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The smartphone will go on sale for a starting price of Rs 22,999 for the former variant, making it the most affordable smartphone in India with a Snapdragon 820 processor. The 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM variant is priced at Rs 29,999. Both smartphones come with a one-year subscription to LeEco’s content ecosystem, and will be available on LeMall and Flipkart on June 28th. The registrations for the sale begin on June 20th.
