Global mobile and laptop manufacturer Lenovo has announced the launch of its budget 4G Android smartphone, the A6000 for the Indian market, carrying a price tag of Rs 6,999. This dual-SIM device was earlier showcased during CES that took place recently. Along with support for Indian 4G networks, the A6000 comes with speedy hardware specifications that put it in the league of some very popular smartphones including the Xiaomi Redmi 1S and the Android One range. However this device trumps the competition with the availability of 4G at this price point. Especially with the closest competitor, the YU Yureka being available at Rs 8,999.

Hardware-wise, the Lenovo A6000 features a 5-inch, 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution IPS display. For its computing muscle, the device relies on the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core chip clocked at 1.2GHz, supplemented by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which is expandable by an additional 32GB using a microSD card. The smartphone is based on Google’s Android KitKat 4.4 operating system on which Lenovo has layered the Vibe UI version 2.0.

The device also features a 64-bit computing architecture that logically can offer twice the performance compared to 32-bit computing, currently used by most Android smartphones available in the market today. However, this is possible only if a compatible operating environment is provided, which will be the case with Android Lollipop.

In addition, the device offers stereo speakers at the back that are Dolby digital complaint for better music and audio playback. In the imagery department, the handset boasts an 8-megapixel primary snapper at the back complemented by an LED flash, while at the front there is a 2-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling.

The A6000 is powered using a 2,300mAh lithium-polymer battery pack, which, as per company claims, offers close to 13 hours of talk time over 3G networks. For most users this should be more than sufficient, though 4G data access might reduce the battery life marginally. The Lenovo A6000 will be available to purchase via Flipkart via the flash sale model used by the likes of Xiaomi. The pre-registrations will start today, and the first flash sale will happen on January 28th at 2 pm. Get ready to play.
